In 2025, Takara Shuzo, parent company of Foodex and the undisputed leader in Japanese sake, celebrates its 100th anniversary. Over the course of a century, the group has shaped the future of sake, asserted its international leadership, and built up unique expertise combining tradition and innovation. 

An iconic Japanese company 

Founded in Kyoto in 1925, Takara Shuzo has established itself as one of Japan’s most iconic companies in the production of sake, shochu, mirin, and traditional beverages. 

It perpetuates a unique Japanese expertise based on rigorously selected ingredients, locally grown rice, extremely pure spring water, and precise, ancestral fermentation techniques. 

This traditional foundation has continued to strengthen over the decades, while remaining open to innovation and new production methods. 

An international presence serving Foodex
